The 2024 application process for Shock Art has closed for this year. Selected artists are currently painting around town. The 2025 call for artists will be announced in spring of 2025.

The park construction is underway and the public artwork “In Tandem” by artist Mike Burke is in fabrication. Installation and dedication will be announced Fall 2024.

Artist Pavia Justinian has been selected for the public art commission at Fox Meadows Park. The park construction is underway and artwork is being fabricated scheduled for completion early 2025.

The AIPP Commission will enliven traffic stops with vintage photos from the Longmont Museum archive.

As the collection grows and ages, the task of maintenance grows!

The Safety & Justice building is showing significant signs of structural distress. In November 2018, City of Longmont voters approved revenue bonds to fund rehabilitation and improvements to City buildings including the Safety & Justice Center. Bringing the building up to current essential code requirements and extending the life span by 50 years was identified in the original bond.

The rehabilitation of the building will also require the removal of the current public art, “How We Live and What We Live For” installed in 1993, which is attached to the rotunda. The removal of this art is currently planned for Spring 2025. The updated design of the rehabilitated Safety & Justice Center includes prominent locations for new commissioned public art. Art in Public Places will conduct a national call for artists upon completion of the building.
