City of Longmont Code

The City of Longmont Code Enforcement Office, in accordance to Chapter 13.24- Trees and Plants, of the City of Longmont Municipal Code, responds to private, dead, hazardous, and/or infested trees. As EAB expands throughout the City, Forestry Services will work with Code Enforcement to keep the public safe from dead and dying ash trees infested with EAB.

Pre-Code Enforcement Letter

The intent of the pre-code enforcement letter is to increase the time for management of the individual ash trees, and to help slow the spread of EAB throughout Longmont. Identifying EAB symptomatic trees sooner provides more management opportunities for the property owner. Many arborists have opted not to climb ash that have died from EAB, thus tree removal costs may be higher depending upon the situation. And, removing ash trees that harbor EAB during the winter months helps to reduce the overall population of EAB in Longmont.
